Last morning in Amsterdam

We spent a few rainy, but very nice, days (staying at the cozy Hotel Vondel on Vondelstraat) in Amsterdam, walking around in the town centre, crossing canal after canal, hopping on a boat to see the canals from that angle as well, choosing not to go to museums but rather trying to get a feel of what the city was like. We found some culinary golden nuggets too: The first morning we had an amazingly fresh (orange and raspberry juice, a huge ham and cheese sandwich) breakfast at B&B Lunchroom on Leidsestraat. The same evening we had some wonderful, wonderful pasta at small, genuine and friendly Italian La Festa on Hazenstraat in Jordaan and before leaving Amsterdam we had another amazing breakfast (tea, freshly squeezed orange juice, bagel with cream cheese and jam) at Bagels and Beans on Keizersgracht (near Leidseplein), where free Internet access was available. My feet were certainly tired by that time, but we will definitely come back to Amsterdam at some point... let's hope the weather will be a bit better then.

I've finished the work...

...and it feels really good. I had a seminar yesterday when we discussed theories and their application, all of it topics that will be important when I continue to work on this throughout the autumn. I'll finish a few more things, but then it's time for vacation, time to relax and just enjoy lazy days with T. This photo was taken from our living room window last night. It was still amazingly warm, no wind at all, the sun was setting in the west and subsequently colouring the sky pink in the east.
