In Treatment

We only saw a few episodes when the television series based on Hagai Levi's Israeli original Be'Tipul and starring Gabriel Byrne was broadcast on one of the national television channels, but my curiosity was definitely stirred and I decided to buy the first season on dvd.

The episodes are short (only 20-28 minutes in general) and we happened to watch one after the other. This might have been a good thing since the series is built up in five weekly sessions, four with patients of psychologist Dr. Paul Weston and one in which Dr. Weston becomes the patient in the hands of his previous mentor and psychologist colleague. The five episodes give a glimpse of all five cases each week as they develop over time. Impressive acting, a marvellous script, and an intelligent as well as realistic tone has made me order seasons two and three as well.

Our new car

And here it is... our brand new Skoda Superb. A joy to drive and a joy to ride. Don't you think Gandalf the White is a fitting name?

Car dealings

No fog today. There was a gorgeous sunrise around 7 am and the sun continued to shine as we went to the annual check-up on our old car before lunch. A few things need to be fixed on it, but it's nothing major. The inspector doing the vehicle test said that our car on the whole is in very good shape, the issues that need to be fixed will be so next week, and then we plan to sell it as soon as we can after that.

The reason for the sale is that we picked up our brand new white Skoda Superb yesterday — it's beautiful and we've decided to name it Gandalf — and I plan to post a photo of it here as soon as we get the opportunity to take one.

Spring mood

The sun is shining and although it is quite windy there is nevertheless a bit of Spring in the air. For some reason my "spring colours" tend to be green and blue and right now I'm most inclined to go for blue. I think it's lovely against the white, beige, brown, and grey of late winter/early spring.

Valentine's Days

On Valentine's Day three years ago, I was at the decorated ferry terminal in Gothenburg and about to sail across Kattegat to T. The weather was beautiful and the sea was calm. A great memory.

Otherwise, T. and I are not that keen on celebrating "All Heart's Day" (as it is called in an English translation from Swedish). Although I absolutely love flowers and chocolate, the whole Valentine shabang seems to be entirely about consuming stuff, even more so than on any of the other holidays throughout the year. Instead, for us it's sort of "business as usual." We do say "I love you" to each other a number of times, but, to be honest, we do so every day and not only on February 14.

Foggy sunrise

It has been a cold week and it is now getting a bit warmer, which means that the fog tends to emerge. This morning was beautiful as the sun almost managed to get through the mist and there was even some blue sky.

It has been a fairly productive day as well, although we have no results to show for it yet. Patience, I guess... which incidentally is not my strong side.

Doreen Reid Nakamarra

Somehow I've always been fascinated by Aboriginal art and when T. and myself watched a television program featuring a number of Aboriginal artists it felt like a treat.

I can't claim to know much about it, but Doreen Reid Nakamarra's repeated pattern, that almost looks three-dimensional, is so beautiful. I've learned that the patterns are different depending on the tradition and location of the artist. Some work in stripes, some in dots, but the patterns are equally mesmerizing. I look forward to learning more about this. Perhaps we'll be able to buy something from the Aboriginal Artstore at some point.
