Lighting up

For weeks now I've been on the lookout for a metal hanging candle chandelier to light up our new pavillion on the terrace on warm and dark August evenings and today I managed to find one at a very good price at an auction. I must have been very lucky, since nobody bid against me. Chandeliers such as this one are usually quite pricey.

To describe it a bit more in detail: it is quite rustic and heavy, made of iron (with a bit of rust), and the diameter is 51 cm. It seems to be from the 1970s and is designed to hold six mid-sized pillar candles, which I think will be perfect in the pavillion.

Today's outfit

I rarely show what I'm wearing, but I felt like sharing today's ensemble although it's not that special at all. Nevertheless, it is blue-white-silver and consists of the following: A knitted short-sleeved sweater, a striped, very comfortable skirt, a navy top, a tin necklace, my silver rings (including my engagement ring), my axCent watch, thin silver bracelet, and a hair grip in the shape of a feather.

Engaged!

We got engaged to be married today. It was not planned for today, but it turned out to be a lovely day and a wonderful mini vacation that made this day simply perfect for the occasion.

Beige and white

Today I've spent some time browsing the beautiful items that can be found on Etsy. The above are examples that I thought were lovely and they are also, in colour, matching what I'm wearing today — a pair of beige jeans and a white, knitted short-sleeved cotton sweater. From the left: a sterling silver and quartz ring, a sterling silver cuff bracelet, clay countryside houses, and a rustic brooch.

Garden ideas

The weather is marvellous and we're relaxing after a few weeks on the road. Tour de France is on TV and I'm browsing through Karina Demuth's Ny i Haven, a beautiful book which outlines what to think about when being new to gardening. It was a present from my sister-in-law and her husband and I will definitely read it more carefully when today's thrilling Tour de France stage is over.

Red huts

We're on vacation and are currently spending a few days at my parents' house. The weather is wonderful and we're enjoying the scenery very much.

Yesterday, we took a walk and went passed these characteristic huts, previously used by the farmers as sheds for hay and other things, that were standing in a row nearby. I took a few snapshots, which T. later played with in Photoshop. I like the result.

Very good food

We've been on the road for a few days now, visiting T.'s sister and brother-in-law as well as his parents and it has all resulted in several days in a row with very good food.

On Thursday we had pork chops, wild rice and a mushroom and sherry sauce, on Friday there was lemon chicken with new potatoes on the menu, on Saturday we had a barbeque (for 10 people) and homemade strawberry icecream for dessert, and on Sunday we made homemade pasta (tagliatelle and pappardelle) and a tomato, sausage, bacon, and cream sauce. It was all very, very good and we really enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen with them. Today, T.'s father will treat us to a baked salmon dish, which also sounds delicious. A truly tasty beginning of our holiday!
