Finishing up

Friday. The sun is shining and it's warm outside. It feels great right now. I've tried to tie up a few loose ends today and I have also begun to invite people to the big dinner party at the end of May.

In the middle of it all I'm still rather enamoured by the white and blue colour combination I blogged about earlier and when H&M released their new Conscious Collection I was really happy to see a new, crisp white tunic exactly in the design I've been looking for. The blue and white scarf also comes from H&M. The blue jacket was found at Esprit, the brown Esprit clogs were found at Ellos, and the Bvlgari au thé Blanc perfume comes from Amazon.

Crisp colours

For some reason I feel like wearing summery blues and whites at the moment. The crisp white of the shirt and the clean lines of the blue dress appeal to me. Both the white shirt and blue dress can be found at Asos. I think the blue and white bag from Nelly looks really cute as do the slip in super highs from Swedish Hasbeens. To continue on the list of things I like at the moment I ought to mention the linen scarf and sunglasses from Esprit and the thin metal silver belt from La Redoute also looks great. Now I'm kind of looking forward to summer...

Looking good?

In a few months time I have a really big day — work-wise — coming up, and I've already begun thinking about what to wear. I want it to be something I feel comfortable in, and yet something that looks really good.

The following seems like a pretty good combination: Carvela platform heels from Javari, a grey skirt from Esprit found at Ellos to wear if the weather is nice, a wonderful beaded silk/cotton tunic from Culture found at Sid & Sally, a pair of grey trousers from Esprit found at Ellos in case the weather is bad, and a grey suede coat from La Redoute. The necklace, earrings, and ring, which I already have, come from Edblad & Co. Now I just have to decide on what to wear in the evening...

Sunny January

The relative warm and sunny last few days of January have inspired me to think about spring outfits. I love the light grey trench coat, the dark grey embellished Vila neckline tunic and the cream 'Alex' tote handbag from Star by Julien MacDonald found at Debenhams. I also really like the long Enja tunic from Culture which was found at Sid & Sally, the Costa button bar court shoes from Schuh, the knitted grey scarf from Tranoi, the matching bracelet and ring from Anna Sukardi found at Mila Silver, and the beret from Whyred. I'm not sure if any of these items will be found in a wardrobe near me at any point, but I do like browsing.

Winter parties

The first one of the traditional winter parties takes place already next weekend, and I'm really looking forward to it. I do like thinking about what to wear and what can be seen above is perhaps more suitable at a New Year's party, but I think if works well on most occasions.

The dress from Esprit is a favourite already in my possession. The Claudia lingerie from La Senza, the cream clutch bag from J by Jasper Conran, and the Trudy high heels from redherring's special edition can all be found at Debenhams. The velvet shawl can be found at Fashion Scarves and Shawls, the pearl necklace was found at Isla Jewellery, the Eau Perfumee au Thé Blanc from Bvlgari at Perfume Emporium, and the bronze hair clip at Forntida Smycken.

In fashion

Years ago, probably some ten years, I bought a long cashmere coat and I've worn it every winter since then. The colour is camel, which for instance works very well with jeans, and it's really nice and warm. Bearing this in mind, I was really happy to see that camel is back in fashion now.

These are a few things that caught my eye: A poncho, a pullover and jeans treggings from H&M, a cashmere shawl from Kalda of Sweden, make-up from Bare Escentuals, my favourite necklace from Edblad & Co. and a pair of suede boots from Ellos.

New sandals

The blisters I received while walking the streets of Paris made certain people suggest a new pair of sandals. A bit too late, but nonetheless, today I bought a new pair of Ecco shoes and the difference is huge, actually. I do wish I had had them a bit earlier.

Next time. We'd better get back to Paris again soon.

Contrast

There is no real warmth in the air even though it is late May, but I've realized that I somehow link bright golden colour and jet black. Perhaps it is the contrast between sunlight and hot asphalt, or golden sand against dark shadows on a hot summer day. Somehow I've always liked to wear black in summer as well. In an attempt to conjure up some warmth I thought I'd make an exposé of things I like right now and wish I could wear.

The dress and the tunic are both from La Redoute. The necklace We is one of my absolute favourites and it comes from Edblad & Co. The hat was found at Source and the Bvlgari glasses at SpecSuperstore. The flower was found at H&M.

Comfy clothes

I think I just found a new favourite brand. I accompanied my mother to shop for a new tunic for her and the only one she really liked was from Danish Masai, from which all the photos above are borrowed. At the boutique, I picked up a brochure and I have to admit that I really like the rest of the Masai spring 2010 line just as much as she likes her tunic. Wonderful colours, good quality, relaxed and quite cute. Perhaps I'll try to get hold of some of the items for myself as well.

Approaching summer

A drizzling spring rain has fallen earlier today, but right now it's sunny and nice. It's getting greener and greener and there are flowers in all possible colours in the garden of my in-laws. It feels great.

I'm beginning to think about the upcoming summer, what vacation plans we might make (we have a few things planned already) .... and what I'd like to wear. (I'm sure T. is smiling by the time he reads this). Well, well...

The dress can be found at La Redoute, the mini wallet at Walk on Water, the cream shoes at Din Sko, the evening bag at Lindex, and the trenchcoat at La Redoute.

Spring wardrobe

It's a bit funny... At first I may not visually take notice of the changing seasons but somehow my body feels it. It makes me want to wear different clothes, colours, and scents. Right now I'm in "jeans mode."

I really like these two pairs of jeans from Esprit Online, where the light indigo tunic blouse, the black belt, and the bracelet also can be found. The blue blouse in the middle was found at Sisters, the thin blouse in white and blue at Ellos, the brooch comes from Beautiful Me, the hair clip from Compliment.se, and the beautiful Vivianna watch from Georg Jensen.

Lush

Here comes yet another blog entry centered around fighting the chilly weather, and I'm sorry to sound repetitive, but since neither T. nor Spring seem to be arriving any time soon I thought I'd make the best of. Right now I'm wrapped in a really warm blanket as well as in Bvlgari's Omnia. Both do the job pretty nicely (even though it would feel faaaaaaaaar better if T. had been here). Well, well...

Through the smoke

Perfume literally means "through the smoke" and that is probably more appropriate than ever for me right now. Deciding not to dwell too much on yesterday's bad news, I went shopping this morning. Apart from thinking about various Christmas presents, I was also on the lookout for a new perfume for myself, a "wintery" one. I've really missed having a cozy, warming scent and I decided to look around, trying out for instance Armani's Code in both the female and male version (I liked the male one best), several perfumes from Bvlgari (Omnia Amethyste, Jasmin Noir, and the unisex Black), as well as SJP's Lovely. I honestly liked several of them but somehow they weren't what I was looking for.

Driving back home I was wondering what I indeed was looking for and I realised that the perfume I measured them all against was the memory of one I tried when I was a teenager: Rochas's Byzance. This particular perfume invoked feelings of warmth, sensuality and lushness in me. Back by the computer I decided to see if the perfume was still available, and, realizing that it was, I decided to order a small bottle. I really don't know whether the adult me will still react in the same way to the scent, but I guess I will soon find out.

UPDATE: Yes, I still love it. I love the way Byzance mixes with my own bodyscent and lingers for a very long time. I have rediscovered the perfect Christmas scent for me.

Christmas festivities

Dinners and various get-togethers tend to come one after another in December and for us it kicks of with the traditional "julefrokost" (Christmas lunch, which sounds like a "breakfast" but actually is a dinner) on November 28. I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone again and I have also enjoyed thinking about what to wear. (Don't laugh, T.!) This is pretty much what I came up with:

Purple shawl from Ellos, black dress from KappAhl, black shoes from La Redoute, Omnia Green Jade perfume from Bvlgari, black underwear from Dim, pantyhose from Lindex and the pearls are private.

To stay warm

Since winter is approaching, I have bought a bunch of new, warm clothes for us all. I thought I'd show just a few that I've bought, or am thinking of buying, for myself. It's interesting to see that I have subconsciously incorporated this autumn's fashion colour number one, purple, while at the same time not letting go of my old favourites, brown and black. From the left: A long, chocolate brown knitted sweater from H&M, a classical, woolen jacket from La Redoute, a necklace from Pilgrim's Urban Culture collection, an Eclipse Pashmina scarf from My Pashmina and a purple dress from Ellos.

Rain, rain, rain...

Today has been the first day this year when it really feels like autumn and it does feel rather sad. A knitted cardigan has been a must since I seem to have a cold coming on, and it also made me want to check out the new autumn collections at various webshops.

A few things, in colours that I love, caught my eye: A blue dress from La Redoute, a black skipper jacket from the same place, a petrol scarf from Esprit, a Pilgrim necklace from Le Shop, a pair of black leather boots from La Redoute, a black leather belt from Esprit, a knitted cardigan from Lindex, and, last but not least, a blue knitted dress from H&M.

I know I'm late...

...but I simply haven't had time to buy summer shoes yet. When I began to look around I actually saw a few I really liked and that would work in all types of situations. I need a) shoes for rainy days (and I think these black ones from South would work pretty well), b) flat, comfortable shoes such as these white ballerina shoes (also from South) to replace the trainers I've been using on an everyday basis for the last few months, and c) some nice high-heeled (but comfortable) shoes such as these grey ones from Redoute Création for more formal occasions. And, since there is a sale right now, why not order this beautiful leather handbag as well?

"Scentisizing"

I just got back from a work-related journey and when I'm at airports I often take the time to check out newly-released scents and other essentials. (I bought a bottle of Bunnahabhain whisky — Islay Single Malt — for T. which he hadn't tasted before, so he was happy.) I tend to like light, green, not particularily sweet, perfumes and they also work well for me since I sometimes get an allergic reaction to heavier scents. I bought Bvlgari's older Au Thé Blanc when I was in New York a few years ago (I miss it!) and now I thought I'd try their new Omnia Green Jade. It actually had a similar note, which I liked a lot, and even though I didn't buy it now I realised that I will eventually.

The Green Jade scent lingers a bit longer and for me it would probably be perfect both as a party perfume and for everyday use. Tommy Hilfiger's Dreaming and Dreaming Pearl I use on an everyday basis. They are extremely light, giving only a subtle hint of perfume which lasts a working day at the most, and I often find that quite enough. A long-time favourite of mine is otherwise Carolina Herrera's amazing 212. This light scent lingers longer as well and seems to work perfectly with my own basic body scent. I never seem to get tired of it.

For other contexts

I usually don't like wearing anything when I sleep, since it feels as if I get caught in it when I move around in my sleep. Having said that, I also realise that on some occasions I do have to wear something: when we're staying over somewhere. So instead of grabbing T.'s shirt or anything equivalent, I thought I'd invest in a really nice nightie. Having browsed through what has to be hundreds of them, I finally decided to buy one from Esprit (the one to the left above), which was available at Ellos.

Some warmth, please...

It was actually snowing this morning and I was extremely disappointed. No more winter, thank you very much! It's prehaps symptomatic that I began looking for summer clothes at lunch today, and I seem to have a blue period. I completely fell for these two dresses from Danish Vila. Usually, I'm not particularly fond of 80s clothes, but I do like the "borrowing your boyfriend's clothes" trend. (And I actually do borrow my partner's clothes at times.) This oversized blazer with rolled-up sleeves (also from Vila) and the XXXL white shirt (from H&M) are good examples.
